At the opening ceremony for the third semester, as talking about our plans until graduation, a classroom teacher asked students what they would like to do for their last parents' class observation, and they said, "We want to have our own appreciation party for parents!" The party, which they discussed and managed themselves, turned out to be a moving event that brought both the parents and themselves to tears.

Implementation Procedure
①One student said, "We would like to have our own appreciation party for parents." The teacher asked the student, "If you really feel that way, why don't you propose it as a draft agenda?" and a draft agenda was proposed. (Photo: Proposal form)
②The proposer, the students’ chairing group, and the teacher discussed and clarified "why we are holding this party". It was decided to hold this party because "it is the last parents' class visit of our elementary school life, and we want to express our gratitude and our own growth as a step toward junior high school, since it is thanks to our families that we were able to grow up.
③The students shared their ideas in advance so that they could think what would be good before the discussion. (The photo shows the ideas that were proposed and the image of the party created by the teacher)
④In the classroom discussion, they discussed what they would do on the day of the event, how they would prepare for it, and how they would divide up the roles. As a result of the discussion, the following were decided.
-To create a play.
-The play will feature our class character named "Kizuna (means bonds between people)" as the main character.
The contents are as follows
1. The scene when Kizuna was born.
2. The scene when Kizuna's parents bought Kizuna a school bag.
3. The scene when Kizuna's parents took care of kizuna.
4. The scene when Kizuna's parents worked hard at their jobs.
5. The scene when Kizuna's parents took Kizuna to school and picked up from school.
6. The scene when kizuna’s parents gave Kizuna praise.
-Allocate roles so that everyone has a role in the play.
⑤The students practiced during break time based on the content that had been decided. They gave advice to each other and showed their practice to other teachers to get advice.
⑥The children performed the play they had practiced on the day of the event. The classroom teacher only had a part in the "Teacher's Story," and the children managed everything else.
⑦Teacher left a note for the parents on the day of the event asking them to write down any comments they had, and as many as 30 parents wrote down their comments. We displayed them side by side.
Some of the comments included, "This was the most enjoyable and moving class I have had in the six years of elementary school." "I could see and feel how everyone worked together to create one thing. I was moved to tears of joy." "I was very moved." "The class visit was filled with laughter and tears, and I am filled with gratitude and emotion. Thank you very much for your loving education." I, as a teacher myself, was moved to tears by these words.
From the author (For foreign teachers, points of implementation, etc.)
- I believe that if we trust students and let them do what they want to do on their own, it will lead to their growth.
- Prior to this classroom discussion, we had held a classroom discussion called "Friendship Meeting" to solve the class problem that “our class is getting along well, but we're split up into some groups.” It is important to accumulate the experience of "discussing and creating a better life (society)."・Prior to this classroom discussion, we had held a classroom discussion called "Friendship Meeting" to solve the class problem that “our class is getting along well, but we're split up into some groups.” It is important to accumulate the experience of "discussing and creating a better life (society)."
