【Saitama Prefecture, Japan】 Cultivating a Spirit of Independence - Making Rules for Internet Use by Students for Students

Other languages :    Arabic

In response to students saying that it was difficult for them to control their own daily lives, we conducted school-wide activities to create and follow rules, aiming to develop a sense of social participation and self-leadership skills. More students became proactive in their lives by living with a goal in mind.

Purpose of Activity

  • The students discussed and made rules to solve various problems in their daily lives, thereby improving their lives.

  • By participating in Student's Association Activities as one's own, students were able to increase their sense of social participation and develop their self-leadership skills by setting goals for their own lives and reflecting on their own actions.

3 Proposal at the Student Assembly

Dissemination of the brushed-up rules for Internet use, and gathering of final questions and opinions. Afterwards, with approval, the “Rules for Internet Use by Students Temselves” are officially decided.

4 General awareness and class activities

In the morning class time, the ambassadors explain the “Rules for Internet Use” to the students. Then, using class activity time, confirm the time and tasks for using smartphones and other electronic devices, as well as their commitments at home. Each student then set specific goals for themselves and filled out a worksheet.

5 Reflection

The day after setting goals, students look back and confirm whether they have achieved them or not. By setting goals once a week and looking back, the participants were able to create a habit of continuously reviewing their own lives.

<From the Author>

By linking Student's Association Activities with class activity time, it is possible to encourage participation in the school by the students themselves. This will increase their sense of social participation, and although it takes time and effort, it will steadily develop the children's quality abilities. It is important to systematically share roles in terms of procedures, detailed communication and coordination, and e-mail distribution, as it requires the cooperation of the school, family, and community.
