In Japan, special activities "Tokkastsu" are included in the curriculum guidelines, in which each child is encouraged to make decisions about the solution of his or her own problems and to persistently putthese decisionsinto practice.(In Japan, these activities arecalledas "Classroom Activities (2)"; in Egypt, they are introduced under the name "Classroom instructions .")

The following are some of the activities that will help each child make decisions about solving his or her own problems persistently put these decisions into practice.

  1. Forming basic life habits
  2. Establishing better human relations
  3. Forming a healthy and safe lifestyle both physically and mentally
  4. Forming desirable eating habits according to a nutritional education perspective
  5. Forming motivation andattitude to live with hope and goals in the present and future
  6. Fostering awareness of social participation and understanding the significance of working
  7. Formation of independent learning attitude and utilization of school library, etc.

 Aim:

There are three main activities related to health and hygiene, in which each child makes decisions about solving his or her own problems and persistently puts them into practice toward realization.

  • Forming desirable eating habits according to a nutritional education perspective

 Implementation procedures:

Homeroom teacher implements it according to the above-mentioned "Classroom Activities (2) Annual Plan." The following topics related to health, hygiene, and nutrition are observed for each grade in one of the elementary school in Tokyo.

  • Function of food products

Grade 4

  • Growth of the body
  • How to brush your teeth properly
  • The functions of the three food groups

Grade 5

  • The importance of early treatment
  • First aid (treatment of blood)
  • Taking care of your eyes
  • How to watch TV
  • Proper posture

Grade 6

  • Balanced meals
  • Strong body and nutrition
